AzyaaMode Gets Up-close and Personal with Clé de Cartier

Taking a look back at Cartier’s expansive history in watchmaking, innovation has to be one of its leading principles. With numerous technical developments introduced through the course of time in different shapes and design, Cartier’s spirit of creativity has ushered in a line of iconic timepieces that not only reflect new aesthetics but also highlight the timelessness derived from more than a hundred years of passionate watchmaking.

Simple curves, shapes and technical improvements are at the heart of every Cartier timepiece. Emphasizing the brand’s traditional volumetric designs, a Cartier watch is always a three-dimensional piece with strong lines and a distinctive form. Clé de Cartier watches are no exception.

The new designs introduce a refreshing new element, the tightly drawn curve that perfectly fits the wrist with its second skin like arched case – which provides a sense of easiness. Cartier faced a challenge once conceptualizing a new rounded simple shape for the Clé de Cartier timepiece. The result of the demanding task was a combination of precision, balance and proportion that further shed light on Cartier’s expert ability whilst creating harmonious shapes. With the elimination of sharp edges, the bezel has become gently rounded.

Pure lines, timeless sophistication and new forms come together to embody the house’s architectural spirit. Known for creating enticing crowns, it is the first time in Cartier history that an element finds itself as the source of inspiration, so much so that the timepiece is named after it.

To further accentuate the significance of the crown, Clé de Cartier’s is set with a sapphire in an unconventional manner. The unique rectangular crown features a similarly-shaped sapphire stone, further emphasizing the contrast between metal and stone. The user-friendly crown can be easily pushed back in place after adjusting the time and return to its vertical position without affecting the adjustments.

The new movement was developed, fabricated and assembled by Cartier’s watchmakers in Switzerland. Embossed with “Vagues de Genève”, the automatic movement features a date indicator and a 42-hour power reserve.

Feminine elegance comes in the shape of three Clé de Cartier watches that finely balance between strength and grace. Clé de Cartier women’s watches come in 18-carat pink or white gold and the case’s fluid rounded shape are set with brilliant-cut diamonds.

AzyaaMode accompanies Cartier on this inspiring journey by capturing the House’s latest novelty in a film that brings to light the singular and unwavering standards of the luxury French watchmaker.
