Oscar de la Renta Spring-Summer 2018 Collection

It was all about the sparkle, from the pink glittered high heel courts to the beautifully embellished sequin tulle gowns in clashing bright tones, as if Oscar de la Renta himself had a hand in this elegant but ultra-contemporary collection held at Sotheby’s. This was the second showing for Creative Directors Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia, and they made a strong bold statement whilst weaving that ladylike de La Renta flavor into the pieces. “The collection was inspired by art gallery settings and artists Oscar loved, including Moro and Calder.” Graphic patterned waves of sequins and tulips that looked like one of Calder’s mobiles, adorned dresses. A sequin logo t-shirt was styled with a black tuxedo suit. For evening, gold sequins dripped down the bodice of a fitted black gown whilst oversized multi-colored sequined letters spelt the word ‘OSCAR’ on a white tulle ball gown showstopper.
