Old Hollywood Secret

When you think of beauty icons, the first one that comes to mind is blonde bombshell Marilyn Monroe. If anyone has a beauty secret to share, it would be her, right? Guess again as her makeup artist is the one with all the tricks.

We stumbled upon some of his tips, and discovered a simple secret with a product most of us already have in our homes. When you think of new products that have come on the market lately, a couple of them are primers and highlighters. What if I told you you could use petroleum jelly as both of these? Yes, Marilyn herself loved using petroleum jelly as her primer because she loved how dewy it made her skin look. It makes for a great foundation base, and is equally great for highlighting. Some of her favorite places to highlight were her lids. She thought shiny lids were so hot…and we thought these were modern trends! She also used some on her brow bone for highlight, as well as her cupid’s bow. There are actually so many uses for “Vaseline”, like removing your makeup and treating chapped lips. You can also use it to tame your brows like a brow gel. If you’re coloring your hair, protect your skin with a layer of it along your hairline. Speaking of hair, you can use it to tame frizzies. My last and favorite way to use this multipurpose product, is to dab it on where you will spray your perfume and the scent will last longer. If you don’t have a tub of Vaseline I’m pretty sure you’re already out the door to buy some!
