Back in the Armory in New York, Marc Jacobs took away the fanfare of his usual over-the-top sets and made it all about the clothes. And that’s all he needed. Like exquisite global nomads, his models clothed in a wild intoxicating mix of vibrant jeweled fabrics and joyous patterns floated through the show space like a spectacular flock of birds travelling from “somewhere” in silk head turbans, embellished trainers and Birkenstocks and carrying utilitarian flight attendant bags. “We took a holiday in our heads and went somewhere - twisting fantasy into reality through exaggerated, decadent and exotic sportswear silhouettes” said Jacobs. Turquoise satin harem pants were styled with a heavily beaded vest top; a khaki trouser suit styled with feathered jeweled trainers, jumpsuits styled under oversized parkas. Cindy Crawford’s daughter Kaia Gerber closed the show in a canary yellow sequined evening dress.
