Healthy Nails? Yes, Please!

Strong, healthy nails are a quintessential part of the perfect appearance. And not being given the right advice or treatment for your nails definitely makes things worse, so let’s get you on the road to beautiful nails with these expert tips.

– Whether you’re getting your nails groomed at a salon or doing them yourself, leave your cuticles alone and avoid cutting them at any price as they are the natural barrier to fungus and bacteria, so once you cut them, you are depriving your nails from protection.

– Unless your nails are really weak and break all the time, go easy on nail-hardeners.

– Moisturize your nails, as by doing so, you will help them grow and protect them. For better results, apply oil around the cuticles – which will reduce the chances of chipping and splitting.

– Research has proven that supplements of biotin increase nail thickness and prevent splitting and breaking. So why don’t you ask your doctor if this is something you can try?

–Please stay away from acetone-based polish removers because they strip the nails and make them brittle.

– File your nails smoothly and slowly to avoid breakage and avoid sawing back and forth.

– If you’re a clean freak and need to wash your hands all the time, bear in mind that the overexposure to water can harm your nails and make them weak. However, if you have a job that requires you to wash them several times a day, use moisturizer as often as possible and rub a little extra around the cuticles to minimize the damage.

– If you are using a special shampoo for oily hair, it might harm your nails because it tends to make them very dry as it dries out your scalp. This might call for a change of shampoo.

– Try to stay away from artificial nails, as they might cause serious permanent damage. If you really need to wear them for a special occasion, then just go for tips over full ones because the chances of damage are a lot less as the area covered is much smaller.

– Everything mentioned above applies to your toe nails as well, as they may even be more prone to damage due to careless pedicures.
