Carolina Herrera Fall/Winter 2018-2019 Ready-to-Wear

Carolina Herrera sent shockwaves through New York when she announced that after 37 years, last night’s collection held at the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art was to be her last as Creative Director before stepping down and handing over the reins to Wes Gordon. And as to be expected, the show was an exquisite and fitting homage to the woman who has come to embody the sophistication and elegance of her brand. Think opulent luxury right from the start with animal prints, fur trim cuffs and collars on coats, gentle draping in a sky-blue silk dress, a playful embellished cat print and statement red carpet dressing. As a fitting finale to her signature style, models wore crisp white shirts styled with long taffeta skirts in different colors, cinched-in at the waist by belts. Herrera took her bow and Wes Gordon presented her with roses.
