Bottega Veneta Spring-Summer 2018

Tomas Maier might be in favor of a pared-down mood, but the location of his Spring-Summer 2018 show was nothing short of sophisticated. Indeed, at the heart of Palazzo Archinto, Maier eschewed a series of pieces that blended simplicity with intricateness. If you're having a hard time imagining what that combination would render, then picture structured numbers such as blouses, skirts and coats infused with metallic perforations, python fabrics and delicate rhinestones. Almost all the looks brought back the sweet memories of feminine silhouettes, what with the cinched waists and the structured shoulders. Suede combinations were infused with a colorful pasty palette, while other numbers featured fringes and volumes. Along came a delicate satin dress elegantly worn by Kaia Gerber, followed by a slew of lightweight coats upholstered with belts. For eveningwear, Maier chose to infuse his outfits with a dab of lamé, a little bit of velvet and a whole lot of leather! And isn't simplistic elegance what the house takes big pride in?
