Beauty Tip of the Week – The Feminine Energy of Red

Trend Alert: Crimson RED! Not only is this color a cult classic on the lips, but we are now seeing it move up to the cheeks and eyes, channeling all things feminine.

This is a hot look for the more daring diva with a bit of 80s rock in her, and we have summarized how to pull it off.

Focus features for this look are eyes, lips, and cheeks, so be sure to only use one or two of these features max.

Eyes: Choose a nice crimson eye shadow in cream formula as a base. Cream Color Base by MAC Cosmetics offers a good range of reds which work great for this purpose. Wear it alone, or as a base to which you will add eye shadow. You can even have fun with it and add a touch of metallic gold or silver on the center, or corner of the lid to break the red. This application is strictly on the lids. Do not move further up, as less is always more!

Cheeks: If you’re wearing red on your eyes, it’s best to stick to a natural bronzing powder to enhance the cheeks.

If your cheeks will be a focus feature, then by all means add some red on them. BeneTINT by Benefit cosmetics is a classic product loved by many for its long lasting healthy flush of color, and its main hue is red!

Lips: This is easy, and an all-time favorite. Choose your formula as matte, metallic, or glossy and apply a precise application of color on your lips. I love Russian Red, a deep rich red, and Relentlessly Red, which is a more playful and brighter red, both available at MAC.

This look can be pulled off by all skin tones by adhering to following rule: the lighter your skin tone is, the better off you are with rosier and lighter shades of red.

If your skin tone is more medium to dark in color, then opt for more crimson and richer reds!

Nothing beats the power of Red!
