Laser Hair Removal – Get Summer Ready

Yes, believe it or not, February is fast coming to an end and with a glimpse of an eye, you will find yourself on the beach, sipping a cold, refreshing juice while enjoying the sun. However, the question is: are you ready to pursue your laser hair removal sessions? Here are some guidelines on how to prepare yourself for this journey.

1 – Inform your laser professional of any medications you might be taking, because some of them might make your treatment less effective and some can cause skin sensitivity – which leads to skin burns.

2 – You might not like this one, but if you insist on pursuing your laser hair removal sessions, you need to avoid sun exposure – including tanning beds and self-tanners. Besides causing skin discoloration after your laser treatment, a sunburn makes the session a lot more painful. Therefore, it’s better to use sunscreen on the area that’s being treated.

3 – If you usually use bleach, stop it six weeks prior to your laser session, because it affects the pigmentation of your hair’s root and makes the treatment ineffective.

4 – Even though it’s summer and you want to wear that gorgeous skirt you wore the other day, avoid waxing. Shaving is a good alternative, as it leaves the root of the hair in place – which actually makes the laser hair removal session effective.

5 – Make sure to shave the area 24 to 48 hours prior to your laser hair removal session even though the hair is really blond and can’t be seen to the naked eye. Why? Because this severely decreases the chances of burns.
