How To Apply Blush Correctly

During a recent conversation with a friend, while comparing Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle, my friend pointed out how Kate wears too much blush. I had never noticed this, perhaps because I too am guilty of wearing too much blush. I just feel like it gives you life on a tired day, but in fear of being called the “the girl with too much blush”, I decided to work on my blush applying skills. I know what you’re thinking, very simple just smile and apply on the apples of your cheeks right? Well, that may have worked before, but now I feel like the blush somehow tends to get lower than it should be. Meaning it passes the contour line when it should only stay above it. Using a loose brush like the MAC 187SH SYNTHETIC DUO FIBRE FACE BRUSH gives you a more naturally blended application.
Another issue I was having was getting blush close to my laugh lines. To fix that, draw an imaginary line from the middle of your pupil down to your cheek. The blush should not go past this line. This took some practice, but one thing that helped me was to use the handle of another brush to keep me from coloring outside the lines. Whether you are using a creme blush like the NARS The Multiple or a powder blush like the CHANEL Joues Contraste Powder Blush, blending after application is key.The look we are going for is flushed and natural.
