Fight The Heat in Style

It’s summer, it’s hot and the only thing you want to do is walk around in your swim trunks – yes, even at your office. But since that’s not completely possible, your average clothes will have to do.

Now you’re thinking: “how on earth will I remain cool in this heat”? Well, one thing’s for sure, don’t sweat it – literally and figuratively. Second, own up to your kind of lifestyle; if you work in a corporate office, then you really don’t have a choice here. Pick a suit that is not too heavyweight and pair it with a light shirt. If your job doesn’t require you to dress up, then go for short-sleeved blouses, casual tees and light denims. And if you’re one of the lucky ones and you’re just spending the day at the beach, then scenario number 1 is your go-to choice. Below, we’ve rounded up a few guidelines to get you through summer’s writhing sun in sharpness and panache.

  1. Survive the hot summer months by changing your fabrics. Go for linen and cotton, ergo fabrics that allow your garments – and yourself – to breathe.
  2. Go for light and patterned colors. You really don’t want to wear dark tones and end up sweating your whole day out. Luckily, the colors of the season vary between pastels, bright hues and a whole lot of patterns.
  3. Switch your blouses. Replace your standard shirt with a short-sleeved shirt and pair it with some cargo shorts.
  4. Pick the right shoes. This season’s coups de coeurs? Loafers and boat shoes!
