Fashion Creative Directors – Who Came and Who Left?

In the fashion world, it’s a common thing to witness a lot of changes, be it in terms of trends or ultimately, in terms of designer shifts. Speaking of, 2018 was a tumultuous year; Hedi Slimane left Saint Laurent, Céline bid farewell to Phoebe Philo and Christopher Bailey exited Burberry. And while you’d think these changes would disrupt the rhythm, a new chapter in each story has begun, revealing new creative directors, new tasks and new stories.

Truth be told, every designer brings his/her own vision to the brand, instilling its own set of values to that of the House. So as a creative director leaves, it only seems natural that creative interruptions take over the brand for a little while at least. The trick here is to have another leader in mind who could potentially fill in the shoes of the previous one. And leave it to the biggest brands and fashion houses to be the experts in this field.

So who’s where right now?

Well, Christopher bailey left Burberry after 17 long years, and now, the House is creatively run by the ever-so famous Riccardo Tisci. Berluti, on the other hand, welcomed Dior Homme’s ex-creative director Kris Van Assche as its new artistic director and it all seems very promising. As for Saint Laurent, it seems that the House has welcomed Anthony Vaccarello after bidding farewell to Hedi Slimane, who by the way, took the reins of Céline instead of Phoebe Philo’s. And – stay with us – Lanvin welcomed Olivier Lapidus after Bouchra Jarrar’s exit, while Virgil Abloh (the mastermind behind Off-White) took over from Kim Jones as Louis Vuitton’s new Men’s Creative Director.

And here’s your 2018 update while we wait for new changes to hit the fashion industry!
