Dior: From Paris to the World

“As a Parisian couturier, I needed to be aware of not only the needs of French women, but also those of elegant women around the world.” Christian Dior

Another exhibition from the house of Dior will be blowing your minds, entitled “Dior: From Paris to the World”. Showcased at the Denver Art Museum, the exhibition will be lasting until March 3, 2019 and will hence be celebrating more than 70 years of Haute Couture, as part of a journey through time and the slew of countries explored by Christian Dior himself as well as his successors.

And so, the exhibition counts the tale of a designer who gained huge momentum throughout all the stages of his life and who conquered the hearts of the biggest stars on the planet. Over 180 Haute Couture designs and 25 of the toiles that gave life to the collections, alongside a plethora of precious photographs, films, original sketches, nearly 200 accessories and objects related to Dior perfumes and makeup, and a number of rare archival pieces will all be displayed in the Museum.

The tribute to Christian Dior’s ingenuity and his successors’ creativity comes within a legendary initiative to share with the world his pioneering vision.

“He was the first to understand that from a very exclusive couture house, one catering to women of the highest elegance, he could conquer the planet,” explains Florence Müller, curator of the exhibition.

Fifteen thematic spaces across time and continents pay tribute to icons such as the Bar jacket – think representations of the Ladies in Dior, loyal muses or passionate clients or famous stars (from Marilyn Monroe to Natalie Portman). The exhibition – curated by Florence Müller –  hence traces a melange of over 70 years of creativity and luxury made possible thanks to the savoir-faire of 30 Avenue Montaigne, the “Studio of Reveries” that became a “Refuge of the Wonderful”, in Christian Dior’s words.
