Straight Talk

What makes you look like you stepped off of the runway? Sleek, straight and shiny, almost wig like hair. But what if you’re like me and were born with fabulous curls. How will you go from curly to sleek? Here’s a step by step guide to get your hair straighter than ever.

Straight hair starts in the shower. I start off by using Aesop’s nurturing shampoo and conditioner. This combo is gentle enough to use on my dry hair and gives me the shine I need. Once out of the shower, and after combing out my hair and getting rid of excess moisture, I put in a small amount of L'Oréal Paris Hair Expert Smooth Intense Straight Perfecting Balm.

Using a blowdryer with a nozzle, I do a quick air dry.

Next, I use a round brush and go section by section, making sure all the roots are straight as well. This takes time and some wrist tension, so turn up the music and blast the AC. I like to use a few good hair clips to help the process move quickly.

Clip them on to your blowdryer chord when you are done since they always seem to disappear. Now crank up that flat iron and go section by section again; no one said this was easy!

Finish off with Aveda Brilliant Emollient Finishing Gloss and you’re runway-ready!
