Paul Smith Presents New Tailoring for Spring-Summer 2019

For Spring-Summer 2019, Paul Smith takes us on a reminiscent trip down memory lane, as he reflects on his relationship with his father, Harold. And so drawing inspiration from a series of photo prints thatmakesdirectuseofPaulandHarold’sphotographs, he brings to life a notion of tailoring that includes a vivid dialogue between the fifties’ and the eighties’shapes and cuts.

In other words, the designer dedicates his SS19 collection to oversized shapes and bold check fabrics, where exaggeratedjacketshapesinspiredbythe1980screateuniqueproportions, and where classic tailored pieces are matched with technical cycling jerseys and nylon layers – like that of the 1980s.

Armed with creativity and peculiarity, the designer also reinvents tailoring fabrics, bringing forth a slew of bold check patterns in muted colors and innovative new takes on classic British tailoring. Also, two new check-tailoring fabrics have been created exclusively for Paul Smith – from anavybasewithapinkandredcheck design, toablackbaseoffset by a check pattern of grey and orange.
