Oscar De La Renta Fall/Winter 2018-2019 Ready-to-Wear

Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia are not ones to forgo Oscar De La Renta’s long-established legacy. The latter was widely known for his use of luscious fabrics, rich embroideries and surely, his knack for eveningwear.

With that in mind, the duo did just that, adding their knowledge of the wants and needs of millennials into the mix. In a collection that could only be described as a botanical one, the optical illusions seemed to be forever present, taking over lace and tulle mid-length dresses and oversized coats that shined with vibrant colors. There were laurel leaves embroidered on coats, brocades with what seemed like tapestries spreading on the numbers and the House’s moniker fit-and-flare dresses rendered that much elegant with unique sheer bodices. The mix between the House’s heritage and the appeal to the millennials was present throughout chunky knits, sparkly dresses and the use of rich textures such as royal velvets and dreamy silks. Our Coup de Coeur? The maxi velvet gowns of course!
