Max Mara Fall/Winter 2018-2019 Ready-to-Wear

“Classic doesn’t have to be conservative”; that’s what the card awaiting show-goers said amidst Max Mara’s Fall/Winter 2018-2019 show. And as soon as models sashayed their way unto the runway, the statement couldn’t be any clearer.

It was as if Ian Griffiths took Max Mara’s working-girl heritage and spiced it up with the new generation’s joie de vivre. And so, the collection featured a series of midi skirts layered on top of matching trousers – all of which were paired with warm knits and Max Mara’s staple coats. The models sported an edgier look than usual, as they represented the House’s new woman, ergo the one that dares to shine in leather suspenders, pop-art tees, silk bodices and overwhelming bouffant wool skirts. This season, the coats were diversified as ever, as Griffiths brought forth a series of sequined coats at times and another slew of colorful fur coats at other times.

The designer’s reimagined versions of the iconic Max Mara coats were yet again a grand success and they’ll be the fashion industry’s favorite prey come next season.
