Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2018-2019 Ready-to-Wear

If your show is going to close Paris fashion week then close it with an intergalactic bang. That’s the atmosphere that Nicolas Ghesquière conjured up with his white space-like futuristic catwalk that miraculously blended into the ancient architecture of the courtyard in the Louvre museum. It was a stellar setting for a beautifully grown-up collection. Little boxy jackets and skirt suits in grey tweeds or militaristic black were styled with edgy leather fringed tops. Shoulders were exaggerated like the simple white evening shirt with layered oversized pleats that looked like a mini capelet. These voluminous styles were the perfect antidote to fitted pencil skirts and softer pleated styles. For evening an argyle knit jumper was paired with black sequin trousers. What Ghesquière did was perfectly inject ladylike silhouettes with a dose of attitude and edge, just like the melding of the ancient and futuristic in his set.
