Lanvin Spring-Summer 2018 Collection

Shortly after Bouchra Jarrar departed Lanvin, Olivier Lapidus was appointed Creative Director to the House. And now, two months later, the latter has presented his first collection as the head of Lanvin and it was truly sensational. The show kicked off with models exuding a staple elegant vibe, as a nod to the House’s timeless legacy.

Lapidus introduced a mixed color palette of black and navy combinations, splattered around thin-strapped sheer bretelles paired with silk bralettes and wrap skirts at times, and black pantsuits with satin collars at other times. Along came the more colorful pieces, where red and pink numbers met in a mishmash of intensely designed combinations and very well-executed patterns. There were plunging necklines and cinched waists giving the collection a feminine touch, and there were also black strappy sandals with Lanvin’s iconic bow. We saw exaggerated puffy coats in black and red, and a series of asymmetrical bodycon dresses that were so elegant. Each piece was a paradox of alluring details, starting with the layered belts and ending with the 3D flowers doubling as sleeves.

It was all very Lanvin but with a sensual twist brought by Lapidus himself. One thing’s for sure though, the new Creative director will be achieving unparalleled levels of success!
