Kenzo Spring-Summer 2018 Collection

To present their second Memento collection, Carol Lim and Humberto Leon created a setting that surpassed all others. Picture a Chinese tale enhanced with lively dancers and a – wait for it – dragon. The whole venue had Kenzo spelt all over it as it was as crazy and imaginative as the brand itself.

Digging into the House’s archive, Lim and Leon’s theater-inspired show was an homage to Kenzo’s love for denim. The models strutted down the runway in denim kimonos embellished with a soupcon of red pockets, glorious belt bags and jelly shoes with contrasting white socks. There were overwhelming red overalls, bucket hats and denim ensembles with contrast stitching. The looks were so laidback, yet they were sparking  vivid imaginations and dreams. The designers went as far as summoning the ever-so notorious “layering effect”, adding denim bustiers on top of colorful shirt dresses; perfect for the most relaxed one of us. It was a past-meets-present collection, one that was shining with a slew of Hawaiian-inspired patterns and printed bikinis.
