Introducing Elisabetta Franchi’s ONLUS Foundation

Elisabetta Franchi has always been a strong activist when it comes to animal welfare and the defense of animal rights. And so throughout the years, the designer has supported a wide range of initiatives for their protection, making a statement as well in her fashion shows during Milan Fashion Week.

Today, the designer has brought all of her initiatives together, uniting them into a single project: the ELISABETTA FRANCHI FOUNDATION. The latter is armed with a very strong message – alongside its passion for fashion – and an even stronger mission: "giving voice to those who don't have one”.

It all started with a membership in the Fur Free Retail Program – which culminated in the elimination of animal fur from the designer’s collection – and with the construction and financing of the Island Dog Village EF – an oasis of safety and refuge in the north of China for dogs subjected to the barbarities of the Yulin Festival. That said, the aforementioned activities along with many others, will now be supported and carried out by the Elisabetta Franchi Foundation.  And that’s not all, as its first major project will be the construction of an animal shelter in Forlì by the end of 2019 to offer stray and mistreated dogs a home, treatment and a family. Other missions include the expansion of work in Asia, to oppose the Dog Meat Trade, and also in Southern Italy, where aid will be offered to support animal shelters in difficulty.

Dubbed as a non-profit organization, the Elisabetta Franchi Foundation is and will always hold high its motto of "There's no need to wear a fur coat for our vanity". And to top it all off, the company prides itself with an internal culture to always open the doors to the pets of its employees, making it the first company in Italy to do so, hence improving the working environment and productivity of its staff.
