In Tune With the World – Fondation Louis Vuitton’s New Exhibition

Fondation Louis Vuitton constantly features several selections of works within the Collection’s four categories – Contemplative, Expressionist, Pop, Music & Sound. The building, designed by Frank Gehry, was hence home to a multitude of artistic exhibitions. But this time around, "In Tune with the World" will be introducing new artists from the collection, alongside different mediums, and will be bringing together modern and contemporary works. The exhibition which will is scheduled from April 11 till August 27, 2018, is one that will be based on a specific theme. The rhetorical questions about man’s place in the universe and the interconnections between all beings – from humans to animal, plants and inanimate objects – come alive within a series of artistic renderings.

The building therefore presents two complementary sequences; the first being Sequence A, located on the 2nd floor of the building and offering an immersion into the world of Japanese artist Takashi Murakami. The latter brings back the memories of Japan’s political, cultural and social history, combining Kawaii aesthetics with references to his country’s traumas. The exhibition unveils paintings, sculptures and videos, all of which are instilled with an unparalleled imagination, fantastic creations, and a juxtaposition between tradition and modernity, West and East, ancestral techniques and advanced technology.  The second sequence, also known as Sequence B “Man in the living universe”, brings together 28 French and international artists from different generations and techniques. Spanning over three floors, the exhibitions’ works are themed around the idea of emotional affinity.
