Headbands Are the New Veils

Picturing yourself walking down the aisle brings back the joyful memories of these gorgeous brides you used to see on the covers of magazines. There was something so special about them; could it have been the elegant gown cascading down their silhouette? Or maybe their lavish jewelry? Whatever it was, it was all very alluring and dreamy. And yes, veils were the absolute insignia for bridal-wear. But just like everything else, the fashion wheel never ceases to turn and by all means, surprise us.

If you’ve seen the runways of New York Bridal week, you’d notice the constant lack of veils. Where have they gone? Why aren’t they as common as they used to be? And what will consequently differentiate a bride from others? Well apart from her white dress – of course – there’s this mighty thing called a big fat headband. But just for the sake of consistency and the greatness of the marriage constitution, let’s call it a bridal crown. So if you’ve ever felt like you wanted to stand out in a crowd of veiled brides, designers have finally given you the green light to do so. Now the ball is in your court, milady; today, you can choose a statement piece and throw your veil away. So what are your choices then? Consider opting for crystal and floral crowns, a bohemian floral crown to satisfy the hippie in you, and a satin bandeau with crystal embellishments if you’re an Audrey Hepburn at heart.

Brides, say yes to headpieces!
