Gucci Fall/Winter 2018-2019 Ready-to-Wear

For a House that constantly eschews elegance and eccentricity in one simple equation, Creative Director Alessandro Michele did just that on the very first day of Milan Fashion Week. And so, one would only expect pure genius from the designer; and pure genius it was. The show was a concrete representation of the “Gucci Cyborg”, which in the fashion world, meant a psychedelic interpretation of multiple identities.

Indeed, the pieces were channeling countless characters and creatures, as the models sported horns atop their heads at times, while others wore turbans and crystal embedded headbands. The message was very clear: be whoever or whatever you wish to be. After all, isn’t this was fashion is all about?

The collection was chockfull of velvet gowns - which are sure to be red-carpet magnets - checkered capes, sequined pieces, python jackets and embellished numbers.

All in all, it was a marvelous reconstruction - literally - of the world’s shifting identities, as Alessandro Michele affirmatively mended the bridge between social norms and art.
