Givenchy Fall/Winter 2018-2019 Ready-to-Wear

Having inherited Givenchy’s reigns from Ricardo Tisci (now at Burberry), British designer Clare Waight Keller took us back to the Palais de Justice and back to the archives of this heritage brand for Fall 2018. It was there in the gently structured and exaggerated shoulder details of svelte embellished long-sleeved evening dresses, styled with calf length leather boots to give a day-to-night, night-to-day feel. There were whispers of 40s Givenchy in the oversized fur statement coats as well as the exquisite bow details. An exaggerated bow adorned the front of a plunge neck monochrome jumpsuit, another sat Audrey Hepburn-style at the neck of a fringed black and white evening gown. It will be no surprise if one of the series of shimmery tiered plissé evening gowns that wafted down the runway like arum lilies appears on the Oscar red-carpet this evening.
