Giambattista Valli Spring-Summer 2018 Collection

A love story, set in the art world, between artist Mario Schifano and Nancy Ruspoli was the inspiration behind Giambattista Valli’s spring/summer collection. The mood was a mix between art school preppy and girly romanticism with a heavier than usual casual offering. Little knit tank tops were styled with ruffle detailed skirts in the softest of pastel floral prints. A new silhouette - short in the front and long in the back - gave a sporty feel to Valli’s signature frills: a straight cut mini skirt came complete with a ruffle hemmed train attached to the back. For evening, this silhouette was transformed into an asymmetric ruffled shoulder gown styled with flat shoes. No Valli show would be complete without the voluminous evening dresses in silk and chiffons – this time in floral prints - that he has become so famed for.
