Get Dior’s Spring-Summer 2018 Beauty Look

The eyes did all the talking at Dior’s Spring-Summer 2018 ready-to-wear show. And for Peter Philips, the best way to highlight them was to opt for a natural makeup look. “Maria Grazia Chiuri’s collection pays tribute to Niki de Saint-Phalle, who had close ties to the House of Dior in the 1960s-70s. The radiant beauty of this great artist inspired a fresh and modern make-up look. I wanted, in particular, to accentuate the eyes, in a very spontaneous way, giving the impression of a young girl who had applied her own make-up,” he explained.

The look starts with an even and fresh complexion made up with Diorskin Forever and Ever Wear primer, the new Dior Forever Undercover foundation, a few corrective touches of Diorskin Undercover concealer and a very light veil of Diorskin Forever and Ever Control loose powder.

As expressive as they can get, the eyes slightly reminded us of the sixties with well-loaded natural-length eyelashes. First, one coat of Diorshow Maximizer 3D was applied, followed by 5 or 6 generous coats of black Diorshow Pump’n’Volume mascara. The effect is clumped thick lashes that mimic the ones of a young girl who quickly puts on her own makeup. The youthful aspect was emphasized with a line of Diorshow Khôl in Black Khôl 099 applied on the waterline of the lower eyelid and eyebrows slightly accentuated using Diorshow Bold Brow and Diorshow Brow Styler.

Like the nails, the lips were natural – prepared with Lips Sugar Scrub and barely heightened with one of the 4 Dior Lip Glow shades that best matched the model’s skin tone.

As for the hair, Guido Palau gave it a sixties twist. While sections of it were drawn back from the forehead and held with two hair slides, the rest remained loose and wavy.
