Discover Which Neckline Suits Your Body Type

Finding your perfect neckline style is as important as finding any other type of clothing fit for your body type. Of course, people are going to look at your body first, but your upper part makes a whole lot of difference, wardrobe wise.

Indeed, navigating the world of necklines can be a daunting task if you don’t even know where to start. That’s why we’re here to help you get one step closer to your goal. So first things first, allow us to define the four major body types so you can choose the one that best describes you.

Pear-shaped – if you have a pear-shaped body, then odds are you have a narrow bust and shoulder ratio and wider hips.

Heart-shaped – this means you have smaller hips compared to your bust and shoulders.

Rectangle- shaped – this body type is usually very proportional in a way that your bust, waist and hips are equally shaped.

Hour-glass shaped – dubbed as the best body type, an hour-glass figure means a very small waist in comparison to the same bust and hip measurements.

Have you chosen your category? If so, scroll down to discover what neckline would look better on you.

  1. Having a pear-shaped body means you can show off the delicateness of your upper body in the best of ways. In other words, you might as well go for bardot tops, col bateau and off-the-shoulder cuts. Avoid anything that could potentially hide your shoulders and your best features.
  2. A heart-shaped body demands a lot of attention to the upper part, since your big aim here is to make it look that much slender. Before we tell you what you should wear, let us tell you what you really shouldn’t – avoid strapless tops or off-the-shoulder cuts. Instead, go for button-down shirts and wrap tops that give a more feminine spin to your upper body. Vertical lines are a plus here since they elongate your figure.
  3. A rectangle-shaped body can also be described as a “box body”, i.e., minimal forms and little to work with. But the good news is, rounded necklines and wrapped blouses will add more shape to your body and work wonders on you.
  4. Finally, if you have an hourglass figure, you needn’t worry about anything. Literally all necklines will look gorgeous on you and the only thing you’ll have to worry about is the size of your top. Remember, balance is key.
