CHARM SCHOOL: How to Dress for an Interview

Anyone who has ever gone to a job interview knows how important appearances are. Before being hired, most companies will make candidates go through two different interview stages. The first will be the easiest, as it’s simply to get a feel of who the person is, and see how they present themselves. The second round becomes trickier, as candidates are tested on their skillset.

During both stages, it is absolutely crucial to look elegant, professional and confident.

DON’T

-Wear anything above the knee, as you want to appear classy
-Wear anything too corporate. While you do want to look professional, it’s also important to have a bit of personality. Avoid simply wearing a black jacket and pants with black shoes. If you decided to go for black pants, why not pair them with a colorful silk blouse
-Wear too much perfume
-Wear too much makeup
-Wear too many accessories, including jewelry, as to not distract the interviewer

DO

-Go for a natural make-up look
-Have manicured nails, as to look groomed and well kept
-Wear polished shoes
-Brush your hair just before entering the building

And remember to stay focused and to smile!
