Chanel Unveils Its Eyewear Campaign for Fall/Winter 2017-2018

This season, Karl Lagerfeld chose to go back in time while staying true to the contemporary style of today. For Chanel’s Fall/Winter 2017-2018 eyewear campaign, he dressed Dutch model Luna Bijl in key looks from this season’s ready-to-wear collection and captured her in an industrial-inspired metallic setting in black and white photographs.

The same spirit takes over the French house’s new eyewear collection, as the designs witnessed a mix of new shapes with a retro feel, and revisited classics with futuristic touches. Unexpected lines also take part in this line, as well as the style that stands half way between femininity and masculinity. Some optical frames were kept minimalistic, simply encircled with metal, while some others came in an XL square shape embellished with a tweed motif and featured metal arms to reflect a sense of feminine audacity like no other.

Despite all these beautiful delights, we couldn’t get the butterfly mask spotted on the runway at Chanel Airspace show out of our minds, and apparently neither could Karl Lagerfeld. With duality lying at the heart of this design, the latter pairs optical lenses with mirrored clip-on sunglasses. They are, just like any element in this collection, an ideal companion for a modern woman.
