In a pure celebration of British heritage and craftsmanship, Christopher Bailey’s ‘see now buy now’ collection held at Old Sessions house in the East End drew the likes of Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss to the front row and Kaia Gerber to the catwalk. Everything that one associates with Burberry, past and present, came together in a collection of librarian-chic Fair Isle knits. And tartans. Even the Burberry house check made a stellar comeback in the form of caps and oversized supermarket shoppers. It was a question of more is more with knits and plaids clashing, and chunky knit socks styled with tartan high heeled sandals. To beat the British rain there were plastic car coats in clear white and pastel blue, plastic parkas and plastic Burberry check trenches. There were glitzy jeweled brooches, as models wore a single chandelier jeweled earring.
