Breguet’s Pocket Watch NO. 765 Recreated for ‘Darkest Hour’

Sir Winston Churchill was one of the many high profile figures to select Breguet as his preferred watchmaker during the Second World War. He actually wore his Breguet No. 765 – also known as “The Turnip” – all his life. And now for the film ‘Darkest Hour’, it was only natural for the house to specifically create a replica of this exceptional rattrapante chronograph.

Featuring a minute repeater and split-second seconds hand, this timepiece was commissioned in 1890 by Churchill’s grandfather John Spencer-Churchill, the 7th Duke of Marlborough and became Churchill’s favorite. However, this was not his only Breguet timekeeper as he was a frequent visitor of the house. Taking into consideration his stature, pocket watches was favored over wristwatches – which earned the 765 an even more important value in his life.

Up until today, Breguet’s aesthetic and watchmaking values remain unmistakable. The house’s timepieces still have that instantly recognizable timeless feel and the designs are ultra-thin, modern and sleek. With this in mind, this replica is proof of the house’s skills and mastery in the watchmaking industry.
