Balmain Spring-Summer 2018 Collection

Watching the Balmain show, one thought irrevocably asserted itself: it’s a black and white affair! You can tell a lot about a collection by the way the first model invades the catwalk and today, the Balmain Spring-Summer show had tons to say. For some, the idea of a spring collection is best reflected through fluidity and lightness. But for Olivier Rousteing, said season was just another excuse for him to flaunt his fortes, particularly the ones where he indulges in feminine movements.

The designercharmedshow-goers with a series of patent leather pieces – think leather jumpsuits resting atop white blouses, leather cropped trousers and leather midi skirts. There seemed to be a highly-appreciated contrast of black and white, summoning the spirit of the ever-so sultry Balmain woman. Yes, she was alive and well today and she was glowing with dramatic movements, overwhelming ruffles, over-the-knee boots and perforated pieces. With dresses taking the form of hour-glass figures, tinsels seemed to be invading almost every outfit, adding yet another twist to the collection. There were black and white stripes, black and white checkered patterns and well, black and white everything. The eveningwear section of the show exploded in a fury of metallic jumpsuits and dramatic ruffles on dresses; you know, the kind of wardrobe that would be perfect for the diva in us!
