Applying Blush

It’s funny how we pick up certain things from our mothers, and the older we get, the more this happens. I’ve noticed my mom likes to go a little overboard with bronzer, and I tend to do the same with blush as well. I do love how blush brings you to life on a pale tired day, but I admit I can use some application tips. I used to always smile and apply blush on my cheeks, but these days contouring teaches us to use more of an angle. Here is what I learned.
First off, blush should be the last thing you apply; it’s like the icing on the cake.
Make sure the blush doesn’t go too far down your face or else it will defeat the purpose of a natural look.
It turns out the apples of cheeks are a great way to apply certain shades like pink tones, because that’s where you get red when you get flushed.
For other shades like bronzy tones, start with the hairline by the ear and make your way down diagonally; think more of a contour, but higher than the hollows of your cheeks. When it comes to blush, don’t be afraid to experiment with different shades. I like to match my blush to the rest of my makeup for a more monochromatic look. Invest in a great blush brush; this will make a world of difference.
